On August 6, 2024, the National Weather Service confirmed an EF-1 tornado with winds around 110 miles per hour that ran from Bay Village into Westlake. Then on August 22, 2026, a tornado warning covered Westlake, and hail up to 1.75 inches was reported in the city. Hail that size can crack and bruise shingles without leaving obvious marks.
